Combining geometry (Union) and its new position

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi everyone,

I combined several shapes into one by using the Boolean (Union).

Now I want to perform a parameter sweep by changing the position of this new shape. Is it possible to assign a single position to the whole shape (and sweep that single parameter), instead of trying to control all the spatial relations between all its components?

Thanks,
Bartu

Hi Bartu,

You can define the position of the first shape using variables (let's say X1=0 and Y1=0) and then define the position of other shapes relatively to the position of the first one (Xi=X1+dX, Yi=Y1+dY). Make the parameter sweep on the variables defining the first shape.

Regards,
Dima.

Alternatively, you could add a (Transforms->)Move node to your geometry, use the unity as the input, and move the whole unity around using the parameters of the Move node.
