losing layers when going from 2d to 3d with extrude tool

I've been trying to model an aluminum strip we are using as a fin, and after making the 2d profile of the object I use extrude to stretch it and create a model of the object.

The model is losing the layers around the bends of the 2d object when I mesh the 3d object

I think the loss of the layers is causing the calculations to fail, so any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
