Optimal Electrical Design of Spherical Photovoltaic Cells

This paper reports the optimization results of the new generation of honeycomb spherical photovoltaic cells (SPVC) with respect to the series electrical resistance.

The electrical potential (voltage) distribution is found by numerically integrating the mathematical model of the DC current distribution within the SPVC.


Keynote speaker's biography: Prof. Alexandru Morega is with the Department of Electrical Engineering, POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest since 1983. He has earned a master degree and a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, at POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest (1987), and a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, Duke University, Durham, NC, USA (1993). He is using COMSOL since 2000 for research and education in multiphysics - electromagnetic fields, heat and mass transfer, bioengineering applications.

A.M. Morega was one of the keynote speakers at the COMSOL User's Conference, fall 2006 in Prague.
