Evaluating Fatigue in Structural Components with COMSOL Multiphysics

When evaluating fatigue in structural components, you can use COMSOL Multiphysics and the Fatigue Module. This archived webinar shows you how to model a mechanical shaft design and evaluate fatigue due to non-proportional loading. Time-varying loads applied to structural components can lead to fatigue failure even when the stresses and strains are not particularly high. Several add-on modules are featured here and offer important capabilities to simulate a fatigue cycle. Specific applications and example models from the Fatigue Module are shown including Rainflow counting, the Palmgren-Miner damage rule, and critical plane methods.
