Coupling 2D and 1D elements for diffusion simulation

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I am trying to simulate the diffusion of water into a 2D element. I am using the transport of diluted species to model this process. However, in one part of the model the gradient in one of the directions disappears. In theory this means that this section of the model can be treated as 1D diffusion. I was wondering if it is possible to treat this part of the model as a 1D diffusion problem and couple it with the 2D component of the model. I have limited experience with COMSOL so any help would be appreciated!

I have seen online that you should use General extrusion or General projection, I have not used these elements yet and would appreciate help on how to apply them to my model
