Lab Application for Undergraduate Electromagnetics:
Students will explore a real design scenario for a capacitor structure to meet designated performance metrics using properties of real dielectric materials. Students will utilize and compare both analytical and numerical techniques, and explore non-idealities in capacitor designs and how to incorporate them into the design. Students will gain intuition into how geometry and materials affects capacitance as well as the potential and fields produced by a parallel plate capacitor.
