COMSOL is seeking a Market Research and Intelligence Specialist to join the strategy sales team in the Bengaluru office who will be able to identify opportunities to address R&D problems using COMSOL® software.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct market research and internal data analysis to define COMSOL India's priority customer profiles, market segments, business models, and value propositions.

• Quantify commercial opportunities through TAM, SAM, and SOM analysis and translate findings into actionable market intelligence.

• Build dashboards and AI-enabled reporting workflows that make relevant insights accessible to Sales and Marketing teams. Market Research.

• Conduct structured primary and secondary research across priority industry sectors and application areas relevant to COMSOL India.

• Analyze market structure, industry trends, customer needs, competitive dynamics, technology adoption, and emerging opportunities.

• Develop and continuously refine Ideal Customer Profiles (ICP) for priority sectors by identifying relevant customer characteristics, applications, use cases, buying considerations, and market potential.

• Apply frameworks such as the Business Model Canvas (BMC) and Value Proposition Canvas (VPC) to better understand target segments and strengthen COMSOL's value proposition for different markets.

• Estimate and periodically refine Total Addressable Market (TAM), Serviceable Available Market (SAM), and Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) based on identified ICPs and market evidence.

• Convert research findings into concise market intelligence reports, sector briefs, opportunity assessments, and recommendations for Sales and Marketing teams.

Data Analytics

• Analyze internal customer, sales, marketing, product, and commercial datasets to identify patterns in customer acquisition, industry penetration, applications, account characteristics, and growth opportunities.

• Combine internal data with external market information to develop evidence-based customer segmentation and ICP models.

• Identify correlations and indicators that distinguish high-potential industries, accounts, customer segments, and applications.

• Establish repeatable analytical methodologies for market sizing, segmentation, opportunity prioritization, and commercial performance tracking.

• Work with Sales and Marketing teams to convert business questions into analytical studies and measurable insights.

• Maintain appropriate data quality, documentation, assumptions, and analytical consistency so that research outputs can be reliably updated over time.

Business Intelligence & Dashboarding

• Design and maintain business intelligence dashboards that provide Sales and Marketing teams with accessible views of market potential, customer segments, sector performance, ICPs, and emerging opportunities.

• Translate market research and analytical outputs into intuitive visualizations, scorecards, and decision-support tools.

• Explore and develop ChatGPT-based AI agents and workflows that can organize, summarize, retrieve, and communicate market intelligence to relevant internal stakeholders.

• Develop standardized intelligence reports that bring together internal analytics, market research, competitive information, and sector-level insights.

• Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to understand how intelligence is consumed and continuously improve dashboards, reports, and AI-assisted workflows.

• Support adoption of new market intelligence tools by establishing clear processes, documentation, feedback mechanisms, and user-oriented reporting practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Statistics.

• Master’s degree involving Business Analytics, Market Research, Economics, Data Science, Statistics, Business Intelligence, Marketing, or a related discipline.

• Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT and an interest in developing AI-assisted research, reporting, and knowledge-sharing workflows.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data and research findings into clear recommendations for Sales and Marketing stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in market research, business intelligence, commercial analytics, strategy, or a related role, preferably within B2B technology, engineering software, industrial, or technical markets.

• Strong analytical skills with experience working with internal business, customer, sales, and market datasets to identify actionable commercial insights.

• Working knowledge of market sizing and segmentation methodologies, including TAM, SAM, and SOM, and customer/market frameworks such as Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), Business Model Canvas (BMC), and Value Proposition Canvas (VPC).

• Proficiency in Excel and data visualization/dashboarding tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent platforms.
