Coupling Heat transfer in solids with heat transfer in a porous medium (geothermal application)

Hi there,

I am currently trying to make a model of a heat exchanger within a porous medium. I am trying to evaluate heat transfer under differnt soil moisture conditions. I was told to use both the heat transfer in fluids and solids physis as well as the heat transfer in a porous medium physics to accomplish this but have run into some issues.

I have read somewhere that you cannot use the two separate physics to solve for the one solution (outlet temperature), and that it must be done using either one of those physics, ensuring the appropriate boundary conditions. I am just wondering if this is true or not.
