Loss factor

Hi,

I s it possible to calculate loss factor of a material using comsol?

Loss factor is a material property, which must be provided to the model from a datasheet or measurements.

PIM (Power Input Method) is an experimental method for determining the loss factor, which as Edgar says, is a material property.

However, when using the PIM method you need to know the strain energy (or the kinetic energy) of the test object. For this purpose you can use a finite element model.
