use of additional drive for calculations

I read on a previous post how to use Preferences -> Files to set up an alternate drive for doing the calculations. It looks like there is some care to keep users straight. For our team, we share a floating license that is on a single machine, as is the alternate drive. How should the files names be structured to keep the different users distinct if we all make use of this machine?
