Adding a New Product with the COMSOL Installer

New products can be added to existing COMSOL Multiphysics® installations without reinstalling your existing products by changing to a new license file. Installations on Windows® and macOS do not require the license manager if they only use CPU or NSL licenses. This guide will show you how a new product can be installed by changing the license file directly in the setup of a local COMSOL Multiphysics® installation.

If you require the license manager, due to installations using FNL/CKL licenses or those on Linux®, refer to "Adding a New Product with the License Manager".

Change License and Install Products with the COMSOL Installer

After receiving a new license, the license manager must be updated to enable the installation of the new product.

  1. Supply the installer with your new license file, select your new product(s), and if necessary specify the source of the files to be installed. The process closely mimics "How to Install COMSOL Multiphysics®".

If you are prompted to specify a source to install the new products from, you have two choices.
    1. "Install from internet" will automatically download and install the files from the internet.
    2. "Install from local DVD" will use local files on physical media, including USB drives.
