Pipe Modeling: Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in Pipes

Pipe flow modeling can be used to design components for a range of industries, including ventilation systems, chemical and oil & gas pipelines, geothermal pipe networks, and water distribution systems.

This webinar introduces the features of the Pipe Flow Module, an add-on product to COMSOL Multiphysics® that offers a computationally efficient way to simulate fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, acoustics, and structural behavior in piping systems. It begins by covering laminar and turbulent flow and the transition from pipe to 3D single-phase flow. It then covers heat transfer inside pipes and to the surrounding media. The webinar also gives several examples of real-world applications, including contaminant dispersion and a probe tube microphone. The webinar concludes with a demonstration of how to set up a pipe flow model.
