Ensuring high-quality sound in rooms, halls, car cabins, and other similar enclosed spaces requires a good understanding of the sound radiation characteristics of speaker sources as well as the acoustic properties of the rooms. Modeling and simulation can be used to facilitate the development of the audio systems to get the desired frequency response and radiation pattern, identify the best location and orientation for speaker placement, and study how surface properties affect the sound distribution and quality.

In this webinar, we will discuss how room acoustics designers can use the COMSOL Multiphysics® software to evaluate and optimize the performance of speakers in a room environment. In particular, we will provide an overview of the software's capabilities for simulating sources using a detailed or lumped representation. Both of these representation types can be coupled to room acoustics studies when using either wave-based or ray acoustics models that include detailed boundary properties. We will also cover how COMSOL Multiphysics® allows for combining these methods, making it possible to model room acoustics across the entire audio frequency spectrum.

In addition, we will discuss auralization as well as GPU-accelerated computing for room acoustic simulations.
