Comsol 4.0 Orthotropic Shell Elements

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible to define a shell model material to have orthotropic elastic properties in COMSOL 4.0.

I can only work out how to do this for solid mechanics but I seem to remember I could have orthotropic shell elements in version 3.5a.

Is this possible or can I only use isotropic elastic properties for shell models? I don't think I can go to a full 3D model as the complexity will be too much for my PC's ram.

Thanks

Hi

at least in V4.1 you can select orthotropic Elastic Material Models for 3D Shell elements

Good luck
