Matthias Richwin joined KOSTAL, a worldwide automotive first-tier supplier, in 2003 where he started working on the design of optical sensor systems. In 2007 he took over responsibility for simulation methods in the series product development and since then leads the simulation engineering group. Besides his interest in the haptics of car-driver interfaces, his main focus is currently on multiphysics simulations, HPC integration and simulation process development. Dr. Richwins received his Diploma in Experimental Physics in 1999 from RWTH Aachen in the field of X-ray focusing and imaging optics. Working on instrumentation for X-ray absorption spectroscopy with synchrotron radiation, he earned his doctor’s degree at the University of Wuppertal in 2003.
