Modeling Biosensors with COMSOL Multiphysics®

Biomedical engineers use modeling to accurately represent the processes that occur within bioreceptors and transducers incorporated in biosensors and testing devices.

In this archived webinar, you will see how the COMSOL Multiphysics® software is used in the development of biochemical sensors, enabling engineers to better understand protein adsorption mechanisms, optimize biosensor design, and improve the detection of antibodies in rapid detection test devices. Additionally, we explore the use of multiphysics simulation in the testing of electrochemical sensors, electronics-based sensors, and acoustics-based sensors by highlighting the following processes:

  • Designing accurate glucose sensors
  • Modeling ISFET pH sensors with specific sensitivities
  • Tuning the frequency response of piezoelectric quartz crystals
  • Determining the resonance frequencies of SAW sensors

The webinar concludes with a demonstration in the COMSOL® software.
