nice features about version 4.3

This new thread is to generate some positive feedback to the COMSOL developers on the great new version 4.3. I thought version 4.2a could not be topped in dramatic impact, but now I am really thinking that version 4.3 could be the best version ever.

So, how about it user community ? Let's hear what you really like about version 4.3.

I will start with something very simple.

The stop button really works now in client-server mode. I am connected to a COMSOL server, I click "stop", and it responds back within seconds. Before version 4.3, it could sometimes take several long minutes to get back the model tree I/O.

How about you ? What is your favorite (or more than one item) new feature or corrected feature now in Version 4.3 ?

Hi James

well for me the CD is now at my office, but I'm out travelling, so I havnt yet had time to test it, (eager too ;)
but from what I have seen on the webinars, for me one of the nicest new features will be the conditional switching of the BC linked to multiple studies

My wish list today is still rather long, so I'll take rapidly a first run over them and come bakc later again

But I do also agree, COMSOL's developpes are really doing it well, the tool is getting better and better, and we can do more and more complex physics in a simpler way, thanks again to them.

Never having had so fun doing physics (and PDE's in 35+ years ;) and I hope I can still double this time now

I have a soft spot for basic features that everyone, regarding of their field of work, can enjoy.
Here's a neat new feature that you may not have discovered yet: by right-clicking on the top physics node in the Model Builder and selecting "Sort by Space Dimension", you can now visually separate terms corresponding to volume terms in the equations from those corresponding to surface terms/line terms/point terms.

hello agin

what about the load cases :) ideal for multiple loads and load combinations, even with weight adjsutments

OK you need to dig deep into the 1200+ pages to find how to use them, but with a good indexer on the pdf you find nicely your way

Good luck

Hi
another nice ting in 4.3, once you have meshed partly your model, you can activate the selection view and you see which entities are already meshed, and if you are missing some entities

Good luck

I recently discovered the new Mesh Control features under Geometry->Virtual Operations. These features provide much better control over meshing by creating virtual domains, faces, edges or vertices solely for the purpose of meshing. Very useful!

I just recently started using the double dogleg on a FSI problem and discovered this new solver really improves the ability to solve a problem I could not solve before.
