Parameter Estimation for Nonlinear Materials

Mechanical structures and assemblies often contain components that require nonlinear material models to accurately predict their behavior. Examples include: rubber seals, polymers and soft biological tissues, elastoplasticity in metals, and viscoplasticity in solder joints.
The Nonlinear Structural Materials Module add-on to COMSOL Multiphysics® includes more than one hundred built-in material models that can be used for modeling complex nonlinear material behavior. These material models are very often phenomenological and contain a number of material inputs that need to be calibrated for each material.
In this webinar, we will demonstrate a general modeling workflow in COMSOL Multiphysics® for calculating nonlinear material inputs from experimental test data using parameter estimation and least-squares minimization.
